Quote worksheet / Portable containers

What will the moving container plan cost?

Separate delivery, transportation, storage, access, and protection so date changes do not hide inside a single number.

Separate moving charges from storage time.

This adds quoted figures; it does not represent a price offer from any container provider.

Keep storage time visible in the budget

A portable container can solve an access or timing problem, but the total can change when delivery, loading time, facility storage, and redelivery are priced separately. This worksheet makes those components explicit.

Worksheet formuladelivery + transportation + (monthly storage × billed months) + protection + access + listed fees

Enter the figures from a written quote. The tool does not guess rates or include services that a provider has not listed.

Match the scope before comparing totals

Use the same pickup, delivery, storage duration, container size, loading responsibility, driveway conditions, and protection choice for every comparison. Build the inventory first with the furniture volume calculator, then check whether a container size and access plan actually fit the household load.

Plan around access, not just capacity

Ask both addresses about driveway, street, building, loading-zone, elevator, and reservation constraints before booking. If you need interim storage, use the storage unit size calculator to make the volume assumption explicit.

Quote discipline: Clarify which dates start storage billing, whether access at a facility has a charge, how redelivery is scheduled, and what happens when closing or delivery dates move.

For a transport alternative, compare the same inventory in the moving truck rental cost worksheet. Use the container vs. truck rental guide to check access, labor, timing, and responsibility before putting either choice into the all-in moving budget.

Common questions

Before choosing a container plan

Is a moving container the same as a storage unit?

Not necessarily. A portable container may be used for a local move, transport between homes, storage at a provider facility, or a combination. Read the quote to see which services, dates, and access rules apply.

Why does the calculator ask for storage months separately?

Storage is often billed on a different schedule from transport. Keeping it separate makes it easier to see how an extended closing date or delayed delivery changes the plan.

Can I use this to compare container providers?

Yes, if you enter each provider's written figures using the same dates, addresses, inventory, access conditions, protection choice, and storage assumption. Do not compare an all-in total with a quote that excludes delivery or storage.
