Editorial policy

A useful estimate should reveal what went into it, what could change it, and when it was last checked.

Effective July 17, 2026

Research standards

We prefer primary sources, manufacturer specifications, government information, industry documentation, and clearly identified expert material. When a figure varies by household or provider, we use a range and explain the variables instead of presenting a single universal answer.

Calculator standards

Every calculator must state its inputs, calculation logic, units, material assumptions, practical limitations, and last substantial review date. Results are planning estimates and should not replace an in-person inventory, supplier specification, professional quote, or safety instruction.

AI-assisted work

Automation may assist with topic organization, drafting, editing, code, and quality checks. It does not remove our responsibility for the published result. Pages are reviewed for factual support, internal consistency, usefulness, and policy compliance before publication. We do not invent first-hand testing, credentials, quotations, or sources.

Bylines and review labels

“Move Workbook Editorial Desk” identifies work researched, written, and reviewed through this site’s publishing process rather than a named specialist contribution. Each guide shows its publication date, latest substantive review date, and an estimated reading time. When specialist review is used, the contributor and relevant role will be identified on the page.

Commercial independence

Advertising does not determine calculator results or editorial conclusions. If affiliate links or sponsored material are introduced, they will be disclosed near the relevant content. Paid placement will not be presented as an independent recommendation.

Updates and corrections

Substantive methodology changes receive a new review date. Small typographical fixes do not. Readers can report a possible error through the contact page; confirmed material errors are corrected promptly.
